DEAD MAN WALKING.

I see him
Right behind you
Beckoning to me
To join him

He is tall
Dressed in that colour
You can't see him
But I see him

I know his name
He knows mine too
I long to go to him
Won't you just let me be with him?

He calls my name
I answer
He reaches out
I grab him

But you stand between us
With your white coat and stethoscope
Your little needles and white tablets
Keep me away from him.

  1. I have seen many an elderly patient gaze upwards, often smiling and talking to 'someone who isn't there'and mostly, but not always (they) travel on that sleepy journey...
